A rising star in League One, Mason Holgate has impressed the top managers in the Premier League. How long will it take for him to earn a start?
Manchester United are closing in a transfer for Barnsley’s teenage defensive star Mason Holgate as their fifth major summer signing.
According to the Metro, Man United are lining up a £1 million transfer fee for the 18-year-old League One wonderkid and will make the announcement of the move official very soon. Earlier this month the Daily Mail reported that Man United gave Holgate a trial amidst growing interest from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Swansea City.
The Daily Mail reported that Holgate made 22 appearances for Barnsley and scored one goal during the last season and is expected to have a major role next season.
Holgate has played his entire football career with Barnsley, dating back to his time with the club’s youth league when he was only nine years old.
