Kagawa could be sacrificed in move for Monaco man.
Manchester United could make a sensational part-exchange offer for Colombia star James Rodriguez, according to CaughtOffside.
AS Monaco attacker Rodriguez looks set to join Champions League winners Real Madrid this summer.
However, United are massive admirers of the 23-year-old, who picked up the Golden Boot at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The Red Devils may try to force their way into contention for Rodriguez’s signature by offering around £35m, plus Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa and Mexico striker Javier Hernandez.
Kagawa and Hernandez would go some way to replacing Rodriguez and the deal could appeal to Monaco.
However, United may find it difficult to agree personal terms with Rodriguez, who is a childhood Real fan and seems to have his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu.
Rodriguez scored nine goals and provided 12 assists in 34 Ligue 1 games last season.
He bagged six goals and set up two more in five games at the World Cup.
