Manchester United are willing to hand Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller a staggering £1m-a-month contract should he decide to join the Red Devils, reports suggest.
The German international has emerged as Louis van Gaal’s prime target this summer, but it is understood the Bavarian giants are desperate to keep hold of the prolific marksman.
According to The Mirror, United are prepared to offer Muller the £250k-a-week mega deal, though the Red Devils’ hopes rely on the 25-year-old handing in a transfer request to leave Bayern.
It is understood Muller is keen on a move to Old Trafford, however, Bayern Munich chiefs will do all they can to prevent the star striker from following Bastian Schweinsteiger to the English giants.
United boss Louis van Gaal is keen to bolster his attack before the end of the summer transfer window, with striker Wayne Rooney currently struggling to make an impact.
Rooney has failed to register a single shot on target in the Premier League this season, and the addition of Muller would come as a massive boost to the Old Trafford club.
Muller has scored 73 goals in 198 Bundesliga appearances since making his debut for Bayern Munich in 2008.
The 25-year-old has also been superb at international level, netting 27 times 63 matches for the German national side.
