According to reports in the Sun, United face competition from Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Bayern Munich for the 20-year-old forward, but are likely to have the biggest summer budget.
The Sun states that United will have £100m to spend this year, despite splashing £150m on new players last summer. That could be enough to tempt Liverpool into selling the promising youngster, who they currently remain desperate to hang on to.
Sterling is the Reds’ joint top-scorer so far this season, with ten goals all competitions, but his future at Anfield has been under an increasing amount of scrutiny this week, as his ongoing contract saga rumbles on.
Brendan Rodgers would no doubt be loathe to sell Sterling, especially to a domestic rival, but could be left with no other option, should the player continue to prove an outspoken influence among the rest of the squad.
