Manchester United will complete the signing of Benfica star Nicolas Gaitan next week, according to reports.
According to The Telegraph [via Metro], the Red Devils have reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with Benfica, and a deal is expected to be completed next week.
The report suggests Manchester United will pay around £21.1m for the 27-year-old attacking midfielder.
Gaitan has starred for Benfica since joining the club in 2010 from Boca Juniors, scoring 21 goals in 127 league appearances for the Aguias.
Ironically, Gaitan signed for Benfica to replace countrymen Angel di Maria.
Di Maria is expected to put pen-to-paper on a deal with Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday after he completed a medical in Qatar this week.
United boss Louis van Gaal is understood to be looking to further bolster his midfield stocks with Di Maria’s departure imminent, and it remains to be seen if the Red Devils continue its pursuit of Barcelona winger Pedro.
