According to Sky Sports, the two clubs have now agreed on a fee of just under £13m after it was initially reported on Tuesday that Darmian had agreed personal terms.
Having now met the asking price for the Italian ace, it is expected that the 25-year-old will now fly into England to complete the formalities and pass a medical to secure his move to Old Trafford.
United weren’t the only side interested as several Serie A outfits had been linked with a move this summer, but it appears as though boss Louis Van Gaal has now got his target.
It is an area of the squad that the Dutch tactician has been desperate to strengthen with Antonio Valencia filling in at right back at times last season while Rafael only made 11 appearances.
Darmian is comfortable on either flank and has not only proved to be a defensive stalwart for both club and country in recent years, but the former Milan youngster also has an ability to break forward and score key goals.
