The Uruguayan has been a revelation with the reigning La Liga champions this season and according to tuttomercatoweb, his incredible progression hasn’t gone unnoticed with Louis van Gaal thought to be an admirer.
Despite his young age, Gimenez has 13 caps for his country and even featured in the 2014 World Cup.
It’ll be no surprise to anyone that United have once again been linked with a defensive reinforcement with Louis van Gaal said to be almost entirely untrusting of his current defensive set-up.
However, it is a surprise to see the Red Devils being linked with a player so young given the calibre of player – such as Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels – the club have been linked with recently and are supposedly in talks for.
However, the fact that Atletico would be so reluctant to let Gimenez go speaks to his potential.
