Manchester United have reportedly switched their attention to Lazio’s Lucas Biglia as they desperately seek midfield reinforcements this summer.
The Red Devils have been linked with Bastian Schweinsteiger, but are making contingency plans in case the World Cup winner decides to stay with Bayern Munich.
The Daily Express reports that Biglia is on Louis van Gaal’s radar and that United are ready to swoop for the 29-year-old, who is contracted to Lazio until 2018, with an £18.5m bid.

The same source understands that Biglia would be attracted by the prospect of a move to Old Trafford, which could see him earn £1.8million per season, and that Lazio would consider selling as they look to trim their squad.
Van Gaal is apparently making signing a holding midfielder a priority in this transfer window as he wants greater support and competition for the likes of Michael Carrick and Daley Blind.
Biglia has the pedigree to do just that, having won 27 international caps for Argentina. He made the same amount of appearances for Lazio last season to help them to third – their highest Serie A finish in eight years.
