Louis van Gaal has named a strong side for Manchester United’s International Champions Cup clash against Paris Saint-Germain at Soldier Field.
The Dutchman has named three of his summer signings in his starting XI for the match, with Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Memphis Depay all being handed the opportunity to impress the boss ahead of the new season.
David de Gea will begin in the match in between the sticks despite reports linking the Spaniard with a move to Real Madrid, while Daley Blind will start next to Phil Jones at centre-back as Van Gaal looks to solve his defensive issues.
Morgan Schneiderlin has been dropped to the substitute’s bench, with Michael Carrick preferred for today’s game in the deep-lying midfield role.
Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata are unsurprising selections given both will certainly have a major role to play next season should United challenge for the Premier League title.
Luke Shaw has been handed the opportunity to impress against high-quality opposition and it could prove to be a make or break game for the former Southampton man.
