With Man United’s star goalkeeper David de Gea poised to leave, Man United appear willing to give up one of their prized veterans to secure de Gea’s replacement.
According to the Daily Star, right winger/back Antonio Valencia could be part of a swap between Man United and Galatasaray for Super Lig’s top stopper: Fernando Muslera. The Daily Star reported that Galatasaray have a mutual interest in Valencia, who has made 162 appearances for Man United since 2009 and has 13 goals in that span.
Muslera has been an absolute star as a goalkeeper for Galatasaray since joining out of Lazio in 2011. In four seasons with the club, Muslera has recorded a Super Lig-record 19 clean sheets and has been a major part of Galatasaray’s three Super Lig championships in that span.
At a price tag of just €2.75 million per year under his current deal, Muslera would be well within Man United boss Louis van Gaal’s price range as a replacement for the almost-assuredly-soon-to-be-departed David de Gea.
