Man United are closing in on a deal for Nicolas Otamendi, with reports suggesting the defender is “within hours” of leaving Valencia.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for the Argentine international, but the club’s advances have been rebuked by the La Liga heavyweights on a number of occasions.
However, Metro [via Fichajes] reports Valencia may finally have caved into Otamendi’s demands suggest that the player is ‘within hours’ of a move to the Premier League giants.
It is understood Valencia had been holding firm over Otamendi’s £35.5m buyout clause, but the report claims Valencia have grown tired of the ongoing transfer speculation and will now allow the 27-year-old to sign on the dotted line at Old Trafford.
The report claims a fee is yet to be agreed, but the move is now closer as Valencia are now willing to negotiate a transfer fee.
Otamendi could be the man to help fix Louis van Gaal’s issues in central defence after the Dutchman failed to settle on a solid combination last season.
