Yet another club has joined the bidding war for Manchester United’s winger Angel Di Maria as Man City has reportedly entered the fray.
According to the Express, Man City’s director of football operations Txiki Begiristain is “keeping a close eye on the situation” and is talking to the winger’s representatives as Di Maria represents Argentina in the Copa America. Di Maria, who signed with Man United last season out of Real Madrid on a record £60 million deal, is also getting inquiries from Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Barcelona – but it is worth noting that Man City is looking to spend a lot of money this transfer period.
A member of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Dream Team, Di Maria looked like an early star for Man United after scoring in three of his first five matches, but he never scored again during the Premier League season and was benched by Louis van Gaal at the end of the season.
