Manchester United fans are desperate for the club to sign a new striker, with Wayne Rooney currently only supported by Javier Hernandez and youngster James Wilson in the forward ranks.
For a long time it seemed as if Barcelona star Pedro would be coming to Old Trafford, but Louis van Gaal reportedly pulled out of a potential deal for the Spaniard, who is now expected to join Chelsea.
So who now for the Red Devils? The Mirror conducted a poll asking United fans which of six top strikers they would most want to arrive before the close of the transfer window. Here are the results…
Note: Figures taken after first 7,000 votes.
6) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli) – 5.4%
The Argentine has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs this summer, but is nobody’s first choice. He is firmly bottom of United fans’ wish-list, despite 53 goals in two season with Napoli.
5) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain) – 17.1%
There is almost nothing to separate places five to three, but Cavani comes next to last. The Uruguayan has great pedigree, but there have always been doubts as to whether he truly is a world-class striker.
