Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has ridiculed his Arsenal counterpart – Arsene Wenger – for claiming that 72 points will be enough to secure a top four finish in this season’s Premier League, according to reports on CaughtOffside.

United currently sit in fourth place, just behind Arsenal, but the pair have Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton all breathing down their neck, while Chelsea and Manchester City already look to have wrapped up two of the top four spots.
The Dutchman takes his side to Newcastle tonight, knowing that defeat could see the Red Devils drop out of the Champions League places. Speaking earlier today, he explained that it’s too soon to predict a top four points tally, and that nothing will be determined until much later on.
He said: “I don’t think of how many points (it will take), but he is more experienced in the Premier League so I want to believe him, but it is going to the last week, I know that.”
