Old Trafford club to move for Chile ace after World Cup.
Manchester United’s spending spree is far from over, according to the Daily Mail.
The Reds Devils have already shelled out around £60m this week in securing the services of Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao and English left-back Luke Shaw from Southampton.
Manager Louis van Gaal now wants to add another central midfielder to his squad.
His top target is Juventus and Chile star Arturo Vidal, who scored 18 goals for the Serie A champions last season.
Juve are reluctant to sell Vidal, 27, but United hope that a bid of £30m or more could tempt the Turin side to let him go.
Van Gaal reportedly tried to sign Vidal while he was in charge of Bayern Munich.
United are expected to make their move for Vidal once Chile’s World Cup campaign is over. Chile face hosts Brazil in the last 16 on Saturday.
Roma’s Kevin Strootman is also said to be on Van Gaal’s shortlist, as is Frenchman Paul Pogba.
