Mata and Herrera could almost have free roles in this variation of 4-3-3, which isn’t far off the famous Christmas Tree formation. The main problem with this system is that it makes the team very narrow, although Valencia and Shaw would be able to provide width from full-back, while the midfield three, who would be incredibly hard to break down, cover. Depay doesn’t get into this starting XI, but he has all the attribute to be a devastating super sub.
