The Colombian forward did not even make the bench for the match at Old Trafford, with the Dutch boss electing to start with Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, while youngster James Wilson was included on the substitutes bench.
Van Gaal said: “Falcao isn’t injured, just not selected in the squad. It’s much more difficult [selecting a side], but that’s the task of the manager and I have a staff who advise me as well.”
