Red Devils keen to bring Portuguese back to Old Trafford this summer.
Premier League champions Manchester United are set to go head to head with big-spending Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season for the signature of Real Madrid playmaker Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports in the Sun.
The Portugal international’s current future at the Santiago Bernabeu is very much up in the air at present, with the 28-year-old’s contract in the Spanish capital only running until 30 May 2015.
As a result, the Spanish giants would prefer to offload the attacker this summer rather than risk losing Ronaldo for free in two years’ time, with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson waiting in the wings ready to bring his former star back to Old Trafford.
However, the Red Devils know that they will face a big fight to sign the forward if he does decide to depart Los Blancos, with mega-rich Ligue 1 leaders PSG set to rival any offer United are planning on making for the player.
Ronaldo has scored an incredible 197 goals in just 194 appearances for Madrid since signing for the club from United for a world-record fee of £80 million four years ago.
