Here are the player ratings for Manchester United against Manchester City:
GK) David de Gea – 7.5
Kept Manchester United in it for quite a while, making a number of superb stops. Could do nothing about Sergio Aguero’s opener.
RB) Antonio Valencia – 6.5
Didn’t do too much wrong despite being played in his unfavoured position. His pace was vital against City’s quick counters in the second half.
CB) Marcos Rojo – 4.5
Was struggling to deal with Aguero at times, and should have conceded a penalty for a foul on Yaya Toure. Was taken off for Paddy McNair after a a nasty shoulder injury.
CB) Chris Smalling – 2.5
The cause of most of United’s problems, and the reason it never really looked a competition. An early booking for stupidly trying to block Joe Hart, and a second yellow not long after for a mistimed foul on James Milner.
LB) Luke Shaw – 6.5
Did a decent job defensively, Jesus Navas’ pace was a problem that very few could have dealt with, but Shaw did well.
