However, reports elsewhere suggest United are edging closer to a deal for Croatian international Mandzukic, who will be allowed to leave Atletico for around £36m this summer. The 29-year-old is described as being close to a move to Old Trafford in Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
