Yaya Toure signs on for four more years at Manchester City.
Yaya Toure has signed a new contract with Manchester City to stay with the club for the next four years.
The Ivorian’s displays at the heart of the Citizens’ midfield have been a crucial factor in the team’s success over the last three years.
In particular, some of his individual performances at the tail end of last season proved a vital difference in Manchester City winning the Premier League title.
When Man City were rocking against a rampant Newcastle United at St James’ Park just after the halfway point of the last campaign, Roberto Mancini’s deployment of Yaya Toure further forward helped steady the away side, and resulted in a brace for the Cote D’Ivoire international and three points.
With the title won on goal difference, City fans will surely never forget Toure’s battling spirit, and will hope that there is plenty more to come this season.
His absence in the current campaign because of the Africa Cup of Nations coincided with Man City’s worst form, and two draws with QPR and Liverpool and a defeat to Southampton all but threw the Sky Blues’ title challenge off track.
Yaya Toure now has four more years to put it right.
