Pellegrini thinks Negredo is top-notch…
Manchester City’s new Chilean boss Manuel Pellegrini thinks £24m signing Alvaro Negredo will prove to be one of the best strikers in the Premier League, reports ITV Sport.
The Spanish striker has started life at the Etihad well following his summer move from Sevilla, bagging two goals in his opening three matches
“I think that in every game played he did very well,” said Pellegrini, the ex-Real Madrid chief.
“He has scored in all the matches so I hope we will see the best of Negredo, that I saw in Spain for the last seven, eight years.”
Negredo will compete with Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero for the striker position at City – With Pellegrini only expected to start one centre-forward in his fluid 4-3-3 formation. Despite his sizable transfer fee, Negredo is by no means guaranteed a starting place, but Pellegrini is aware of his instinctive talent.
“He was a very young player when I was at Real Madrid,” said the Chilean.
“He started there and after that, every year, he has been a very important striker in Spain. He will be here in England also.”
Negredo bagged 31 in all competitions last season, but is unlikely to do the same this year due to the restricted game tie he will get at City due ti squad rotation.
