Citizens not interested in Celtic enforcer.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has dismissed speculation linking him with a move for Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama.
City were rumoured to have scouted the Kenyan during Celtic’s 3-0 Champions League defeat to Juventus in midweek, while Arsenal and Manchester United have both also been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old.
“I saw him for the first time against Juventus, I never saw him before. But every time I go to see a game, the next day people say ‘Manchester City want to buy this player’,” Mancini is quoted as saying by AFP.
Asked whether he was interested in signing Wanyama, he added: “At the moment, no. I think he is a good player.”
Arsenal are also rumoured to have has scouts in attendance for Celtic’s defeat at Parkhead and boss Arsene Wenger has reportedly identified Wanyama as the man to shore-up the Gunners stylish yet flimsy midfield.
The North London outfit have been forced to use Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey as auxiliary holding midfielders this term, with Abou Diaby often unfit.
