Mancini knows who he wants to buy, but is yet to decide who will leave.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has suggested this year’s Premier League run-in may provide him with some answers as to who will be leaving the club in the summer.
City rivals Manchester United took a 15 point lead at the top of the table on Saturday after their win over Norwich City, with Mancini’s side set to face Aston Villa on Monday night.
However, Mancini is still eager to remain fully focused on chasing down Sir Alex Ferguson’s men, starting with three points at Villa Park.
The Italian tactician pointed out United still have cup ambitions this season, which could prove to be distractions to the league and he wants his players to be ready to take advantage of any slip-ups.
While rumours already link the club with summer moves for various stars around Europe, Mancini has revealed that he has a few names in mind, but has yet to decide on who will be heading in the opposite direction.
“I think it is important the games we have now until the end, very important,” he told the media as reported by Sky Sports.
“We know which players we can buy for the future but we don’t know which players can leave. Also because some players (might) want to leave because here they don’t play and they want more chances to play. Maybe it can happen,” he added
His comments will undoubtedly prove to be a catalyst for some players to produce considering the risk over their futures, but for now the objective remains cutting the gap at the top.
