Mega-rich top-flight giants want a new forward at Eastlands next season.
New Manchester City head coach Manuel Pellegrini wants to sign highly rated Sevilla front man Alvaro Negredo this summer to replace the recently departed attacker Carlos Tevez, says the Sunday Mirror.
The prolific Spain international has been the subject of much interest recently from many of Europe’s top clubs, with the likes of both Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico de Madrid having pondered making moves for the forward when the summer transfer window reopens for business on July 1.
However, it now appears as though it will be big-spending City where Negredo ends up at next season after their Chilean boss sanctioned a move for the 27-year-old, who netted an impressive 31 strikes in just 42 matches in all competitions for Sevilla in the previous campaign.
If City do want to get their man, though, they will need to pay the full value of the buy-out clause in Negredo’s contract, which runs until June 30 2016 and is worth £18 million.
