Uruguay forward’s future at Anfield is still under a cloud.
Incoming Manchester City head coach Manuel Pellegrini has earmarked coveted Liverpool front man Luis Suarez to be his first signing when he is eventually confirmed in the Eastlands dug-out, reports the Sunday Mirror.
The Chilean is expected to shortly be announced as the successor to Roberto Mancini, with the popular Italian having recently been sacked as City manager after four years in charge of the mega-rich Premier League outfit.
And now Pellegrini wants to kick off his spell in the north west by attempting to lure deadly attacker Suarez away from Anfield when the transfer window reopens for business on 1 July.
Suarez, 26, may be contracted to the Merseyside giants until the end of June 2018, however, City are believed to be confident of being able to persuade the player to join them for next season by offering the player both a big-money contract and the prospect of playing in the Uefa Champions League.
The Uruguay international has netted an impressive 51 goals in just 96 outings for the Reds since joining the club from Ajax in January 2011.
