Galatasaray enforcer targeted by Premier League side.
The agent of Galatasaray midfielder Felipe Melo has revealed that Manchester City are interested in signing his client.
According to Jose Rodrigo Baster, City have made it known of their willingness to sign the Brazilian, while the 30-year-old himself is unhappy with his situation in Istanbul.
“City are interested in Melo, the club have made no secret of this and I am free to inform you about this latest development,” Baster said as reported by turkish-football.com,
“I love Galatasaray fans, Fatih Terim and the team but the board did the same thing last season.
“I don’t want to be disrespectful but I can’t understand what’s going on and am quite upset about the situation,” he concluded.
The issue revolves around Gala’s hesitance in signing Melo outright from Juventus. The Brazilian has spent the last two seasons on loan in the Turkish capital and is now pushing for his future to be sorted by signing on a permanent basis.
However, the club are still at a standstill in negotiations as they wish to pay €4m to acquire him outright, while the Italian champions are looking for a fee closer to €6m.
Melo has played a vital role for the Turkish champions over the past two years, helping them to back-to-back league titles as well as a memorable Champions League run this season following the big-name signings of Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder.
The former Brazilian international has 13 goals and 6 assists in 71 appearances, but unless the club are willing to sign him on a permanent basis this summer he may find himself in England come the start of next season.
