Premier League runners up eager to move Gareth Barry and Scott Sinclair on…
Manchester City are keen to sell Gareth Barry and Scott Sinclair this summer after a busy transfer window, reports The Daily Mail.
The Sky Blues have left the pair in Manchester as the rest of the squad flies out for a pre-season friendly in Helsinki, and they are eager to get rid of the players before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
No bids have yet been tabled for either player, but Manuel Pellegrini is adamant that his squad needs to be trimmed following the purchases of Fernandinho, Jesus Navas, Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo, which has seen City’s spending exceed £100m.
“We’ll see next week. Scott Sinclair is not here with the squad,” said the Chilean boss in regards to the players futures.
“Scott is in Manchester. Denis Suarez, Gareth Barry and Scott Sinclair are in Manchester.”
West Brom lead Newcastle and Southampton in the chase for 24-year-old Sinclair, who has had a miserable time at the Etihad since his arrival last summer. Barry has enjoyed a steady career at Manchester City, but at 32-years-old, the 53-cap England international is no longer needed – and Pellegrini wants to give Jack Rodwell a chance in defensive midfield instead.
Barry is still in the dark over his future, but could possibly join Stoke, or even Arsenal before the end of August.
