Top 10 Premier League players ever: Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard joined by Chelsea, Arsenal & Man United legends on elite list
According to The Sun, the club’s owner Sheikh Mansour has given the go ahead for a sensational summer move for the former Tottenham man. But, whether they are successful or not, it will not deter them from making a move for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, who is also a key target.
Louis van Gaal’s side appear to be their main competition for Bale’s signature. However, The Sun report that United have already failed to sign the Welsh international twice in the past, with the winger electing to join Spurs and Madrid rather than go to Old Trafford.
The statement of intent from the Citizens is also a message to Pep Guardiola. The Bayern Munich boss has been linked with the job at the Etihad, should Manuel Pellegrini be sacked, and his current interest in bringing Bale to the Allianz Arena may tempt him to the Premier League side, should City pull off a deal.
