Fernandinho – 7
City did a good job of keeping the Catalans’ world-class midfield quiet for most of the tie and as always this Brazilian was in among the tackles and breaking up play brilliantly.
Yaya Toure – 7
Had something to prove against his former side and will be pleased with his performance despite the result, as Toure powered forwards and looked a useful outlet in attacking midfield.
Samir Nasri – 6
A disappointingly anonymous display from the Frenchman, who never really got going in the game despite showing the desire.
David Silva – 6
Was, as expected, the main source of creativity for the visitors although the Spaniard will probably feel he could have done more – but did lay a lovely flick-on for the best chance of the night for Nasri.
James Milner – 8
Manuel Pellegrini made the decision to start the Man of the Match performer from Bayern Munich and it was a good call, as Milner provided his usual workmanlike display, but was also on offer to help out in defence and put plenty of crosses into the box.
