Mega-rich top-flight club begin plans for next season.
Manchester City are eyeing up a possible move for in-demand Sampdoria midfield player Pedro Obiang at the end of the season, according to reports on talkSPORT.co.uk.
The recently dethroned Premier League champions are already beginning preparations for the next campaign, and how they are going to get the title back from city rivals Manchester United.
And that means the mega-rich club having a much more successful summer transfer market when the window reopens on June 1 than they managed this time last year.
And top of City head coach Roberto Mancini’s wanted list is Sampdoria’s promising young Spanish midfield player, although the club face a battle with Serie A champions Juventus to sign the 21-year-old.
Obiang has been with the Serie A side for three years now, during which time he has made 56 appearances, but finding the back of the net on just the one occasion.
Obiang form’s this year has brought the 21-year-old his first-ever Spain Under-21 call-up .
