City make enquiry as spending continues ahead of Pellegrini’s arrival.
Manchester City have reportedly made a £12m bid for Lazio defender Stefan Radu, however the Roman club are holding out for £15m.
According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League outfit have been monitoring the 26-year-old for the past year as he continues to impress for the Biancocelesti both domestically and in Europe.
It is reported that they have made an initial bid, however Lazio are not interested in parting company with the star for anything less than £15m.
The Romanian international can play at both left-back and in central defence, and it is believed that City are looking to offload both Joleon Lescott and Aleksandar Kolarov in order to make room both financially and in the current squad to accomodate Radu.
Galatasaray have been linked with Lescott, while Inter are keen on taking Kolarov back to Italy after his successful spell with Lazio prior to his move to the Etihad.
New boss Manuel Pellegrini is set to begin life in charge of the club later this month, and it would seem he has given the green light for the City hierarchy to begin their rebuilding ahead of his arrival.
The club have already signed Brazil international Fernandinho from Shakhtar, while Jesus Navas has signed following his switch from Sevilla as the former champions re-shape the squad following the dismissal of Roberto Mancini.
Radu helped his current employers to a Coppa Italia triumph last season, while also guiding them through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, however it is unclear at this stage as to whether or not he will be plying his trade in England next season.
