Italian international expected to leave Rome this summer.
Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo has been involved in an exchange of words with the club’s supporters as he continues to be linked with a move away from the Italian capital.
It is widely expected that the 27-year-old will leave the club this summer, with the likes of Manchester City, Southampton and Zenit all interested in acquiring his services.
Despite his tendency to lose his discipline, Osvaldo’s goal-scoring record remains impressive, and as a result he is in high demand this summer according to reports.
However, having previously fallen out with team-mates and publicly criticised former coach Aurelio Andreazzoli, it is felt that the striker has missed out on the opportunity to become a great for the club.
This was the basis of a “friendly” confrontation with Roma supporters on Monday according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, who reported that Osvaldo entered into a discussion with one particular fan.
The individual is captured on camera speaking to the Italian international as he signs autographs after training, and tells him that he failed to understand the true meaning of playing for Roma. She goes on to suggest that the star could have been “like an emperor” had he kept his focus on matters on the pitch and controlled his temperament.
Never one to shy away from voicing his own opinion, Osvaldo retorted by questioning whether or not she knew the fully story.
“It is you who has not understood. I made 200 goals, what more do you want?” he is quoted as saying.
Many Roma supporters still hold Osvaldo in high regard and hope that he remains beyond the summer, however the club have reportedly been actively trying to offload him in order to raise funds to bolster the squad for Rudi Garcia’s first campaign in charge.
