City on red alert after Thiago Alcantara rejects chance to leave Barcelona for La Liga rivals.
Manchester City summer target Thiago Alcantara has rejected the opportunity to join Real Madrid from Barcelona, and the Premier League runners up are now considering a move for the young star.
The Spanish wonderkid has been used sparingly in his time time at Barcelona thus far, and incoming manager Manuel Pellegrini wants to make the 22-year old one of his first summer signings when he joins the club.
Spanish source Mundo Deportivo reports that a prospective deal between the El Clasico rivals fell through showing that Barcelona have at least been willing to listen to offers for the play-making midfielder.
The recent interest shown in the midfielder is due to his relatively low buy out clause at the La Liga champions.
At just 18m euros, it is no wonder why Manchester City have been alerted to the availability of the young player, and will look to use their massive cash reserves to secure a signing who could turn into a very productive player in the future.
