Argentinian has been in the Spanish capital since 2010.
Incoming Manchester City head coach Manuel Pellegrini wants to bring coveted Real Madrid midfield player Angel Di Maria to Eastlands next next season, says the Sunday Mirror.
The highly skilful Argentina international has been at the Santiago Bernabeu for only three campaigns now, having arrived in the Spanish capital from Portuguese giants Benfica for a fee that could rise to as much as 36 million euros depending upon add ons.
And in the intervening three-year period the 25-year-old has proved himself to be a huge favourite with the los Blancos fans, registering 25 goals and 53 assists 137 matches in all competitions for Madrid, including 18 strikes and 38 assists in 90 Liga contests.
As a result, Pellegrini has asked those in charge of transfers in the north west to do everything in their powers to convince the player and his club to sanction a deal this summer, although Di Maria will not come cheap, with Madrid likely to be asking at least £30m for the winger.
