Midfield
This has been a problem area for United all term (are you sensing a theme?) and central midfielders Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley and £27.5m summer signing Marouane Fellaini have all been poor.
Wingers Nani and Ashley Young are also woeful, but in Antonio Valencia they possess a wide man who can perform and Shinji Kagawa also showed at the weekend he can play well on the flank.
Another positive from Saturday’s 4-1 triumph over Aston Villa was Juan Mata’s performance, with the Spain international in his preferred No.10 role in the absence of Robin van Persie.
None of this can really compete with what the German champions have though, with arguably five world-class players at their disposal in the middle of the park.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is an experienced box-to-box player who has it all, whilst Thiago Alcantara and Toni Kroos are in his mould and are extremely talented individuals.
Further forward Mario Goetze and Thomas Muller are the future of German football and are game changers, whilst the cherry on top is the talent of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben out wide.
Winners: Bayern.
