Both clubs are desperate to land Pole this summer.
Manchester United and Manchester City are set to do battle for exciting young Udinese midfield player Piotr Zielinski at the end of the season, according to reports on talkSPORT.co.uk.
The Poland Under-21 international has only been with the high-flying Serie A club for one year now, having signed from Zaglebie Lubin in 2012.
However, the 18-year-old has impressed his Italian employers so much this season that he has already featured in six contests for the club, although Zielinski is still to get off the mark for Udinese.
However, that has not put off either Manchester club from sending scouts out to Italy to watch the player in action first hand, and now it is understood that the fierce city rivals will go head to head for Zielinski’s signature when the transfer window finally reopens for business on 1 June.
Zielinski has a contract with Udinese that runs until 30 June 2014 and so his employers may prefer to sell him this summer rather than risk losing the youngster for free next year.
