The two Premier League giants could go toe-to-toe for one of the world’s greatest players…
Manchester United and Manchester City have been put on red alert after hearing news of Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta’s contract difficulties, reports the Daily Star.
The two Manchester clubs face each other on Sunday afternoon in a crucial Premier League derby, but the pair could battle to sign one of the world’s greatest players next summer.
Iniesta is disappointed by the £200,000-per-week terms offered to him by the Catalan giants, and a Premier League giant could take advantage of the stand-off and make an approach for the brilliant Spaniard.
The 29-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best players of his generation, having bagged the winner in the World Cup final in 2010, and won multiple Champions League and La Liga titles with Barcelona.
However, fans of the Manchester rivals shouldn’t get their hopes up…
There is virtually no chance Barcelona would allow Iniesta to leave the club. His midfield partnership with Xavi has been the cornerstone of their unbelievable decade, and his ability to dictate play and keep possession is virtually irreplaceable.
Despite his age, Barcelona will eventually offer Iniesta a sufficient contract, that will likely make him one of the world’s best paid players.
