PSV say that Depay could be made available for transfer.
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur might have to pay a fee in the region of €21 million to stand a chance of signing Dutch international starlet Memphis Depay, reports talkSPORT.
The 20-year-old winger has been impressing at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and is even dubbed the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’ in his home country.
“He has done well while under the spotlight. I do have an idea of what amount PSV want for him, but that’s between us and the club,” Depay’s agent said.
“It will be something in the area of what Kevin Strootman brought in. We’ll see whether there’s an interest in him or if he stays with PSV.”
United’s new boss Louis van Gaal, who is also currently the coach of the Netherlands national team, has been observing Depay from close quarters and may well have the final say on whether or not to bring the PSV Eindhoven forward to Old Trafford.
Van Gaal is yet to make a big name signing in the transfer market, but the 62-year old is expected to oversee a number of changes at the Red Devils once he returns from the World Cup.
Spurs’ new boss Mauricio Pochettino also has the young attacker on his wishlist, but whether the Lily Whites will splash the cash on a teenager, unproven at the highest level, remains to be seen.
