ESPN FC sources revealed that Tottenham will not sell Kane, so Man United may have to take their business elsewhere.
However, Man United is prepared to do exactly that as they have also been linked to possible deals for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and defender Nathaniel Clyne.
Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal admitted that the 2015-16 season will be heavily dependent on how the team performs in the transfer window.
“You have to make a team probably – it’s dependable how many new players are coming,” van Gaal said to Metro.
Man United has a £150m budget lined up, so they are expected to bid aggressively on their top targets. Coincidentally, this is what the Red Devils spent last summer on Luke Shaw and Angel di Maria.
The Red Devils are looking to return to title contender status after subsequently finishing in seventh and fourth place since securing the 2012-13 Premier League title.
