Ten best Premier League goalkeepers of 2014, two Chelsea stoppers and Arsenal man challenge David De Gea.
This is because both players are represented by so-called ‘super-agent’ Jorge Mendes and the Portuguese won’t enter negotiations concerning de Gea until a deal for Falcao has been reached.
The Colombia international is currently on-loan from AS Monaco, although there is an agreement with the Ligue 1 club that it can become permanent if the Red Devils pay a £43.2m transfer fee.
With Falcao having struggled with injury since arriving at Old Trafford and only managing to score thee times to date, the 13-time Premier League champions are understandably unsure about whether they want to commit to the striker yet or not.
Yet one thing is for sure and that is that they want to retain de Gea and get the Spain international to pledge his long-term future to United.
The 24-year-old has been in brilliant form over the past year and has attracted interest from his home nation in the form of Real Madrid – who are looking for a long-term replacement for captain Iker Casillas.
