The Red Devils finally look set to land Blind.
Ajax star Daley Blind could be on his way to Manchester United in a £20m deal after there is a breakthrough in negotiations between the two clubs, according to the Daily Mail.
New manager Louis van Gaal is a keen admirer of the versatile Dutchman, who can play as a left-back, central defender, or in defensive midfield.
Blind was a stalwart in the Netherlands side that finished third at the 2014 World Cup under the guidance of van Gaal this summer.
The 24-year-old has also admitted that he could leave the Amsterdam ArenA before the transfer window closes if the right offer comes along.
Head coach of the Eredivisie champions, Frank de Boer, is also resigned to losing Blind, who seems very interested in a reunion with van Gaal at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have been on the lookout for defensive recruitment all summer, with veterans Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic all having left the club in recent times.
Initial targets Thomas Vermaelen and Mats Hummels have both bypassed United as well, with the former joining Barcelona from Arsenal in a £15m deal and the latter pledging his future to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo is also on the wishlist for the 13-time Premier League champions.
