The Red Devils are close to landing the Juventus star.
Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal is close to signing for Manchester United after agreeing a £182,000-a-week contract, reports Italian newspaper La Stampa.
The Red Devils have had their eye on the Chile international for some time as they look to address the issues with their central midfield.
Last season they lacked creativity in the middle and Vidal’s box-to-box capabilities would go some way to sorting out that problem.
New manager Louis van Gaal is a keen admirer of the 27-year-old, but does have some concerns over a knee injury that has plagued the South American’s career.
However, there is no doubting that Vidal is a world-class performer and could well act as the marquee signing that chief executive Ed Woodward is so desperate to sign.
The Chilean’s agent Fernando Felicevich is said to have discussed terms with United and has settled on an acceptable wage for his client.
Juve are holding out for £47m for Vidal, but the 13-time Premier League champions are hoping the midfield ace requests a transfer and therefore forces the Italian champions to lower their price.
