Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo looks set to complete his long awaited transfer to Manchester United in a £16m deal that also involves Nani, according to the Mirror.
Following their shock opening day Premier League home defeat to Swansea City on Saturday, Louis van Gaal is determined to add some support at the back to his squad.
United have had their eye on for Rojo for some time, with the 24-year-old also keen on the switch having handed in a transfer request at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
With the ability to play as both a central defender and a left-back the Argentina international offers exactly the amount of versatility that van Gaal requires.
At the weekend the Dutchman opted to field his 3-5-2 formation with Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Tyler Blackett as centre-backs, but the trio were badly exposed.
Rojo would offer more experience in this role as a stalwart for both Sporting and the Argentine national team.
The Red Devils have already had one offer for the South American rejected by the Primeira Liga club, but are hoping to now sweeten the deal with the inclusion of their former player.
Nani was signed from the Portuguese capital back in 2007, but in recent times has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford and has been deemed surplus to requirements by van Gaal.
