United target yet another midfielder…
David Moyes will turn to Yohan Cabaye, if he misses out on top targets Cesc Fabregas and Marouane Fellaini, according to The Daily Star.
French midfielder Cabaye has been superb for Newcastle ever since his arrival in 2011 from Lille, and his form has earned him multiple caps for the national side.
Manchester United may lodge a £20m bid for the classy operator, although PSG have also expressed an interest in the Frenchmen, and would seemingly be able to blow any United bid out of the water. With the acquisition of £55m Edinson Cavani though, the French champions may be happy with their current squad.
Manchester United have been left frustrated so far in this year’s transfer window, and have yet to sign an established first team player. They have lodged a bid for Barcelona’s 26-year-old midfielder Fabregas, but Barcelona claim they have no intentions of selling the player. Moyes has also been linked with a move for Fellaini, who he managed so successfully during his spell at Everton. Both the Belgian and Spaniard would be far pricier than Cabaye though, which could smooth his move from Tyneside.
United are in desperate need of a central midfielder following Paul Scholes’ retirement, Ryan Giggs’ advancing years, Anderson’s poor form and Darren Fletcher’s uncertain future. Unfortunately for them however, rival clubs know this – and have so far made any deal for a new midfielder very difficult.
