A delegation set to fly to conclude negotiations with Sporting for the highly rated enforcer.
Manchester United are moving aggressively to seal the deal for highly rated 22-year old enforcer William Carvalho, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
The Red Devils have long had him as one of their prime targets, but baulked at his enormous £37.5 million release clause.
Sporting do not want to let go of their prized jewel for less than that price, but United have sent a delegation to agree a reduced fee for the midfielder.
The Portuguese international is rated as among the finest young prospects in Europe, having already gained six caps for his country, but it remains to be seen whether he will be offloaded this summer.
The likes of Real Madrid and AS Monaco are also considering the enforcer as an alternative to highly priced Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, but are yet to push through negotiations, although Monaco recently offered £27 million for the midfielder.
It would be intriguing to see how far cash-filled Man United are willing to go as the English giants desperately need an enforcer of his quality.
