Arturo Vidal Manchester United transfer update.
The Spain international spent four years at Old Trafford previously between 2004 and 2008 after being snapped up from the Catalans’ youth academy as a teenager.
However, despite adding a large amount of silverware to his name Pique struggled to establish himself with the Red Devils and was allowed to return to Barca for the cut-price fee of £5m.
Since then the 27-year-old has been a key part of one of the most successful teams in history, winning four La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys and two Champions Leagues, among other honours.
Pique also helped the Spanish national team to successive European Championship victories and a maiden World Cup triumph in 2010 and has been widely regarded as one of the best defenders in world football for some time.
Yet this season has seen the Spaniard struggling to break into Luis Enrique’s starting XI, with the new head coach preferring the central defensive partnership of Javier Mascherano and Jeremy Mathieu.
Another new signing in Thomas Vermaelen will also be pushing Pique for a place in the team and United are hoping to capitalise on this to re-sign the defender.
Their back line has been poor this term and manager Louis van Gaal is looking for new options.
