Moyes has been out of a job since the Red Devils sacked him in April, but with Inter struggling president Erick Thohir is looking to alternatives for Mazzarri and has identified the Scot as a potential candidate.
The 51-year-old is said to have been spotted in Milan after having discussions with Thohir and it could be a very high profile return to football for the Scot.
Moyes was dismissed by United just 11 months into a six-year contract after a string of bad results and the 13-time Premier League champions eventually finished seventh and missed out on Champions League football for the first time since 1995.
However, his 11 years with the Toffees previously means that the manager is still held in high regard and with the Nerazzuri drawing dismally in their Europa League clash with Saint-Etienne on Thursday, Thohir may well prefer him to Mazzarri.
