The 28-year-old returned to his former club as part of the £16m deal to bring Marcos Rojo to Old Trafford and many believed the winger would never be seen in a Red Devils shirt again.
Nani has been in good form during his time with Sporting and the Portugal international clearly doesn’t share the opinion that his United career is over.
“The club know my value and I know they want me to stay,” the attacking midfielder was quoted by CaughtOffside.
“It was me who made the choice to leave the club and it was a good decision by me because I knew if I stayed one more season at Old Trafford, it would be very hard for me.
“I was missing my family and friends and I wanted something new. The only opportunity I had to be happy, and Manchester United to be happy as well, was this one.”
Nani joined Man United from Sporting back in 2007 and has since played 230 matches for them in all competitions.
