Manchester United transfer news
According to CaughtOffside, United are desperately working to keep the in-form Spanish goalkeeper at Old Trafford amid interest from the reigning European champions.
De Gea is seen as a long-term replacement for Iker Casillas at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, but the Red Devils will break the bank to stop him leaving, offering wages of £200,000 per week to make him the highest paid goalkeeper in the world.
The 24-year-old is also valued at around £50m, and if that is the figure of his release clause he would become the most expensive shot-stopper of all time if a club matched it.
